Use the following self defense training techniques to improve your fighting abilities dramatically.

You may be training at a school that provides instruction without actual sparring or allowing students to practice techniques with a heavy bag, or perhaps your training involves self defense drilling at your local YMCA; my experience has shown me that a lot of people are being taught by blackbelts who know everything but have not engaged in any street fighting whatsoever!

If this is your situation, you will want to read what I have to say and learn martial arts training along with the ability to apply your hard efforts and take your training to another level. This kind of training will require you to purchase a martial arts helmet, 16-ounce sparring gloves, cup and mouth guards, and protection for your feet, because you should experience the feeling of a real attack. In order to be prepared to fight in the event of a street attack, you must practice sparring and continual exercises.

You must be prepared mentally to fight effectively, and sparring will simulate the pressures and stresses associated with fighting a real person. You will experience what it is like to be struck in the face, and how it feels to have the adrenaline pumping through your body as an attacker aims kicks and throws punches at you. I want you to get used to the feeling and pain of being hit in the head, torso and limbs. Once you have progressed sufficiently, I recommend light sparring without any protection so that you know what to expect when you are taking hits to your body. You will become a better fighter when you learn these aspects of self defense & martial arts training.

Purchasing videos, books or signing up to a martial arts school is essential in your pursuit of training. But learning to time a strike, control your speed, improve your range of motion, and actually break a sweat while breathing hard, is something that actual sparring will give you, so that you don't become another crime victim statistic.

Strenuous sparring will give you the ability to remain calm and relaxed in the face of an attack by someone who applies kicks, punches, grabbing, and throwing in an aggressive manner. If you really want to hone your reflexes and maintain the mental serenity necessary to think clearly, sparring is an essential requirement to learn martial arts training.

Keep on with all of your hard work to learn martial arts training. Your instincts will be at 100%, if you practice these sparring suggestions in full protective gear. Find a park or other location where you will not be bothered, while you experience the excitement of combat and develop your skills to 115% readiness in preparation for a genuine attack.
